Captain's Grog
The vanilla extract, almond extract, falernum, Orange Curaçao, and maple syrup can be combined ahead of time as what is called Captain's Mix.

Seltzer Water | 1 Fl. Oz. | |
Falernum | 1⁄2 Fl. Oz. | |
Orange Curaçao | 1⁄2 Fl. Oz. | I'm preferential to Smuggler's Cove's recommendation of Pierre Ferrand Dry Curacao |
Moderately Aged Rum | 3⁄4 Fl. Oz. | |
Lightly Aged / Filtered Rum | 3⁄4 Fl. Oz. | |
Aged Demerara Rum | 3⁄4 Fl. Oz. |
Directions
- Add all ingredients except for seltzer along with 12 oz of crushed ice or 3-5 large ice cubes to a shaker and shake
- Shake for 20-30 seconds
- Open pour into glass
- Add seltzer and gently stir
